Motocross America, the book, offers a permanent record of the exhibit

Motocross America is the most extensive exhibit ever mounted by the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. But it can't last forever.

While the exhibit will continue through 2006, eventually the dozens of motorcycles and hundreds of artifacts, the rare photographs and the cutaway engine displays, will all be packed up and returned to their owners.

That's why there's Motocross America, the book.

Long after the exhibit is gone, Motocross America, published by Motorbooks, will remain as a permanent record of the exhibit, as well as a source of much more information about the origins of motocross and how it has grown to be the most popular form of motorcycle racing in the United States.

Written and edited by Bill Amick, Motocross America combines the best of the Motocross America exhibit with even more research, historic photos and studio photography.

From the origins of motocross in England in the 1920s, through the sport's arrival and explosive growth in the United States, the book details how motocross quickly put down deep roots in this country and went on to develop into the show-biz extravaganza of modern Supercross.

At more than 220 pages, Motocross America, the book, also delivers the best of Motocross America, the exhibit, with studio photos of the bikes, trophies, apparel, banners, cutaway engines and other items in the exhibit, as well as photos of the completed display in the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum's main 8,000-square-foot exhibition space.

From candid black-and-white photos of the first U.S. team to make the podium at the Motocross des Nations, to glossy color photos that allow you to see details of both sides of all the bikes in the exhibit, Motocross America serves as a permanent record of the sport and the Museum's most extensive project ever.

You can order Motocross America directly from the Museum by calling (614) 856-2222 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week. The cost is $39.95 plus shipping and handling.

A limited number of copies of the catalogs of the Museum's two previous main exhibits, "A Century of Indian" and "Heroes of Harley-Davidson," are also available for $34.95 each, plus shipping and handling.
