A Tribute to Dealers

The Motor Company's first dealer was a Chicago businessman named Carl Herman Lang, who began to retail Harley-Davidsons in 1905. In 1907 he assisted with expansion of the dealer network by representing the brand at its first motorcycle industry trade show.

Throughout its history, Harley-Davidson's loyal dealers have helped carry the Motor Company through hard times, sticking by the brand when quality was low or when it seemed likely to be overwhelmed by foreign imports.

Today, the Motor Company has a strong international market, thanks to the work of men like Trevor Deeley (right), who was Harley-Davidson's first international distributor, and expanded its Canadian dealer network by over 500 percent. There is no doubt that Harley-Davidson dealers can be counted among the heroes who have helped the brand achieve the extraordinary success it enjoys today.
