Entrance

The Heroes of Harley Davidson exhibit honors the men and women who helped build the Motor Company from its humble beginnings in a backyard shed to a 21st century multi-billion-dollar powerhouse.

The trio of bikes flanking the entrance to the exhibit illustrates the range of personalities involved in Harley's first 100 years.

Front and center is a rare 1906 Harley-Davidson single (above). One of only 60 bikes built that year by the original five founders, this "Silent Gray Fellow" garnered a following for quiet reliability that gave the fledgling company a reputation to grow on.

Next up are a pair of machines that helped create the myth that surrounds Harley today – a replica of the Captain America chopper built by Peter Fonda for the 1969 cult classic Easy Rider, and a duplicate of the XR750 that  daredevil Evel Knievel used in his 1975 attempt at jumping 13 double-decker busses in London's Wembley Stadium.
