The Motorcycle Hall of Fame is
pleased to present the 2012 Dave Mungenast Memorial
Motorcycle Hall of Fame Concours d'Elegance bike show on Saturday, Nov.
17, at the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, Nev.
The world-class bike show is part of the 2012 AMA Legends weekend, which also features the annual Motorcycle Hall of
Fame induction ceremony on Nov. 16. In addition, the weekend includes the final round
of the GEICO/AMA EnduroCross Championship Series on Nov. 17 at Las
Vegas' Orleans Arena.
For 2012, the Hall of Fame welcomes the generous support of the Mungenast Family/Classic Motorcycle Museum
as the title sponsor of the Concours d'Elegance.
"Our late husband and father, Dave
Mungenast Sr., as well as our entire family are proud to recognize and
support the achievements of the Hall of Fame members by sponsoring this
year's Concours d'Elegance," said family spokesman
Ray Mungenast, who is the son of Hall of Famer Dave Mungenast Sr., and
president of the Mungenast Automotive Family.
The Motorcycle
Hall of Fame class of 2012, which will be inducted the evening before
the Dave Mungenast Memorial Motorcycle Hall of Fame Concours
d'Elegance, includes famed Grand Prix motorcycle tuner Derek "Nobby" Clark, the late Rod Bush, KTM North America president and industry
visionary; pioneering female motocrosser Sue Fish; 1975 AMA Supercross
Champion Jimmy Ellis; world-class bike restorer Brian Slark; the late Al
Wilcox, iconic race starter; and off-road racing legend Ty Davis as a
member of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2012. The new inductees, in addition to other members of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame, will hold an autograph session at the Concours d'Elegance bike show where they will meet and great fans of their Hall of Fame careers.
Dave Mungenast Sr. was inducted into the
Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2000. He was one of motorcycling's prominent
advocates and supporters in the second half of the 20th century. A
leading enduro racer of the 1960s and '70s, he rode the International
Six Days Trials nine times in his career and earned six medals in the
prestigious competition, including two golds and a silver. As a
motorcycle dealer and owner of off-road riding areas, Mungenast
continued to support off-road riding after his retirement from racing.
He also sponsored numerous off-road racing events in his home state of
Missouri. He passed away in September 2006.
"It's an honor to
associate our event with Hall of Famer Dave Mungenast Sr., a treasured
friend, a great motorcyclist and a wonderful ambassador for the sport
and business of motorcycling," said Jeffrey V. Heininger, chairman of
the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, which raises money for the
Hall of Fame. "Last year we showcased 78 classic, rare and beautiful
machines, including the world's fastest motorcycle, in our annual bike
show and we expect even more in 2011. I have high expectations that the
Dave Mungenast Memorial Motorcycle Hall of Fame Concours d'Elegance
will raise the bar for classic motorcycle shows in this country."
